Known for its skyline view of downtown Calgary to the south and the Rocky Mountains to the west, Crescent Heights is a coveted neighbourhood of approximately 6,000 people and is located just north of the Bow River – the dividing line between north and south. The community was founded by Archibald J. McArthur as a village in 1895. Later becoming a neighbourhood in 1914, making it one of Calgary’s oldest neighbourhoods. Since its inception, Crescent Heights has grown to have a mix of commercial businesses, residential homes, and a wide array of condos, schools, and historic sites from pre-WWII. It exists today as a close-knit community where everything you need is just a quick walk or ride away.
Crescent Heights was built on a location that boasts its sights and green spaces. You will often find walking paths and bridges busy with runners, and cyclists enjoying the ease of access to parks and downtown.
Being an inner-city neighbourhood, Crescent Heights is a big time walking community. It was established in 1914, but was originally incorporated as its own village in 1908. With Highway 1 and the Bow River as borders, residents have easy access to the downtown core and to the luring Rocky Mountain towns of Banff and Canmore.
With a population of 6,620 residents, the Crescent Heights community records a low crime rate and this makes it a desirable area to live in. There are many families in this community.
Schools in the area include Crescent Heights Senior High School, King George Elementary, Balmoral School and Langevin School. Parents boast about these schools and the high academia the students are provided.
